Hey there. This is Tingfang Zhang. I am a 23-year-old student from Guangzhou, China. I finished my Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California, Irvine, majored in film and media studies, and am currently a student in the CCT program at Georgetown University.
I perceive life as a unique, extended journey, rich with opportunities to explore the world and myself. My passion for art and creativity emerged early; I started drawing at six, studied architectural aesthetics by eight, began photography at thirteen to capture life’s beauty, and ventured into music production and DJing at fifteen. Each new artistic medium sparks deep self-reflection and a desire to blend my aesthetic with existing genres in a personal way.
In high school, I founded an electronic music club, uniting like-minded enthusiasts. In college, I explored photography’s diversity through various styles and subjects. I expanded my experience by joining a USC School of Cinematic Arts independent film project as a producer, still-photo photographer, and camera assistant, gaining insight into professional film production. This experience has helped me learn about the industrialized system of film production and has given me a richer understanding and experience in both amateur and professional photography.
My professional experience includes working as a creative director for a Wechat-integrated app game at Weimob and handling video selection, shooting, and editing at a Guangzhou-based advertising and media company. My career choices reflect my willingness to experiment and explore diverse paths. As I believe, “Life is a journey,” I am open to various possibilities, including the automotive industry due to my childhood interest in cars, the garment industry influenced by my family business or joining a new media company to connect with like-minded individuals.
Despite life’s inevitable disappointments, I’m passionate and optimistic about my future. The CCT program at Georgetown is a haven of opportunities, wonderful people, and academic stimulation. I am grateful for this platform, which allows me to explore endless possibilities, find my inner conviction, and strengthen my faith in creativity.
